Kenya Safari Fly-Camps

Below are some of our favorite Kenyan Fly Camp options.
Sarara Star Camp
Located on 800,000-Acres of private wilderness, Sarara is the perfect playground for the adventurous. Head out on foot exploring the conservancy an enjoying some of the rarer northern Kenyan animals before arriving at your fly-camp. The equipment is carried in by camels and their Samburu owners, meaning you can really get away from the roads and head deep into the African bush. The camps are either located in the dry riverbeds close to the main lodge or up in the escarpment with incredible views of the valley and Mathew’s Mountains beyond. Get to camp in time to enjoy a refreshing swim in the mountain streams and pools.
After dinner and some drinks around the campfire, head to bed under your mosquito net with the millions of stars fluttering above you and the sounds of the African bush around you. The following morning you wake to the sounds of birds calling from the trees around you and the valley and Mathew’s Mountains before you. Enjoy breakfast in the fly-camp before heading back to the camp.
The Sarara Fly-camp or Star Camp consists of a mess tent or chill tent and then basic dome tents with just the mosquito net between you and the outside world.
For the ultimate fly-camp in Sarara why not combine this with a helicopter safari? Heading out by helicopter to find the perfect spot. Once you have found the spot, the helicopters can land in a remote area and the team can set the camp up while you explore more of the area on foot.
Mara Conservancy Fly Camp
Having the ability to walk between camps in the Greater Masai Mara is an experience everyone should try when coming on a Kenyan Safari. Leaving the comfort of Naboisho Camp after the first night and walking for 4 days before ending at Mara or Acacia House. This walk gets guests way off the beaten track with little assistance from the outside. Between the luxury camps or Naboisho and Mara or Acacia House, guests stay in dome tents with bedrolls and proper duvets and pillows. There is a shower tent with bucket shower and longdrop loo. Most dinners are enjoyed under the stars, although there is a mess tent in case of rain.
Being in the heart of some of the best game viewing in Africa, with no one else around, and being on foot makes this an incredible experience. Tracking lions, cheetah, elephant, buffalo and more on foot while walking between camps is what gets us here at Stanley Safaris excited. And then sleeping out in the wilderness with animals around you, makes this even better.
