South Africa Helicopter Safari

South Africa Helicopter Safari

Days 1, 2, 3 and 4 - Cape Town

Cape Town is one of the most scenically beautiful cities in the world, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and crossed by mountains, it really does have it all. Stanley Safaris has partnered with some of the best guides in the city so you can spend your days exploring Cape Town and surrounding Winelands in a unique way, specifically tailored to your interests. Whether you are interested in the arts, the history of South Africa, the vibrant food scene, being active, or simply want to explore a variety of wine farms and sample the incredible wines, we can make that all happen. Cape Town is our home, this is what we live and breathe each day, so we know the secret little spots away from the crowds.

Having a helicopter to explore Cape Town and its surrounds opens up so many opportunities to get away from the crowds and reach areas that are inaccessible by vehicles. Do wine tasting on-top of the mountains surrounding Stellenbosch, go whale watching from the air, or have a picnic on top of Table Mountain – the possibilities are endless.

Days 5, 6 and 7 - Grootbos

From Cape Town you fly up the coast, keeping an eye out for whales as you fly to Grootbos. Grootbos is a private reserve north of Hermanus on the famous Whale Coast of South Africa. Situated in a unique flora kingdom, Grootbos is a safari with a difference. Explore the reserve and learn more about the unique flora of the Fynbos region and understand why it is so important to preserve these unique ecosystems. From Grootbos you can explore the nearby coast on whale-watching excursions or for the more adventurous, head further north to Gansbaai for Great White Shark diving.

Days 8, 9 and 10 - De Hoop Nature Reserve

From Grootbos, you head even further along the coast, to the most Southerly point in Africa – Cape Agulhas. See the point where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet before heading to De Hoop Game Reserve. De Hoop offers some of the best shore whale watching opportunities as Southern Right Whales come into the shallows to calve. Whales are often seen frolicking in the backline of the waves a couple of hundred meters from the shore. De Hoop is a small, reserve home general game, but it is the beaches and rock pools that guests come to see. Spend your days relaxing and exploring this quiet part of the South African coastline.

Days 11, 12 and 13 - Timbavati Game Reserve

From De Hoop, transfer to George Airport for a flight to Nelspruit where you are met by your new helicopter pilot for a scenic helicopter flight along the Panorama Route, stopping en route for a remote picnic. As you fly along the Panorama Route you will see beautiful waterfalls, the Blyde River Canyon, and other incredible scenery. Your flight ends in the Timbavati Game Reserve for 3-nights on safari in this Big 5 Private Reserve bordering the Kruger National Park.

Enjoy morning, afternoon, and night game drives in search of lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, rhino, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and so much more. For a little more adventure, enjoy a walking safari where you will learn more about the finer details of the African bush.
